Personal finance is my PASSION! My kids joke that there will be a spreadsheet at my memorial service because I LOVE managing finances, tracking financial goals and growing wealth. But it hasn't always been that way.

​

I grew up in a family that didn't talk a lot about money and financed most purchases on credit. Plus, math was my LEAST FAVORITE subject in school! In college, I got myself a few credit cards and bought what I wanted.  By the time I graduated, my debt was over 20% of my annual salary and I couldn't afford to even make the minimum payments.

 

With creditors calling and feeling like I'd never get out from under the debt, I hatched a plan to go on a game show and win enough to pay it off. Ridiculous I know - but I was young and had no personal finance education! When that didn't work, I had a complete melt down!! I was totally overwhelmed and frustrated with myself. So I came clean to my parents and luckily, they were able to loan me the money to pay off the credit cards.  I spent the next several years paying them back and vowed to NEVER let that happen to me again.  

 

I committed to making a budget, being a "conscious" spender and learning as much as I could about personal finance. The more I learned, the more empowered I felt and the better my finances became  - the numbers were no longer scary! I went on to get a MBA and became skilled at accounting and managed not only my own finances, but large corporate marketing budgets ( $10 million+) for almost two decades. Along the way, I also became schooled in the power of real estate for wealth building and have been a successful real estate investor and landlord for 19 years.

Today, I live COMPLETELY DEBT FREE. The money I've saved, along with income from my rental homes and investments in the stock market , has allowed me to become financially free and live the life I dreamed of. And I want this for you too!
